Taking Time For Myself
The past few weeks have been extremely busy for myself. I’ve landed four freelance positions on my own. Earlier this week I acquired another freelance writing job through one of the job boards. It doesn’t start right away so I won’t be spreading myself thin. For some reason, that position made me happier than the other four. I imagine because it’s a job I picked up outside of my connections.
As much as I enjoy my work I realize that at times I need to step back and breathe. Writing is something I’m doing part time. With my full time job, I’m a business owner. I create and sell natural beauty products. The past few months have been hectic. With the upcoming holidays approaching people was buying products for others, and I imagined some were stocking up for themselves. I had the brilliant idea to add themed gift baskets this holiday season, and they went over very well but my goodness did I have to work to get things out on time. It was challenging. I haven’t hired any employees yet although I’m at the point where I need to get that completed. However, everything was created and shipped out one time. I’m a stickler for being on time.
Today I’m taking a break it’s the first one I’ve taken in several weeks. I really need it. It will be a great time to hang with my daughter and of course read the books I purchased about freelance writing. According to the UPS tracking information they are out for delivery! I have a few articles that I’ll be submitting to clients towards the end of this week. They are almost complete however I’ll take the next few days to read over them at a leisurely place. I’m sure I’ll do some tweaking.

I am a firm believer in writing breaks. It is easy to become addicted to freelance writing. In the beginning, I would work non-stop (days, nights, weekends, etc.) I loved that I could make money from home and have extra cash to pay off bills, spoil myself, and still make a living. Like most good things, burnout came quick, and I learned how to take a step back and relax.
Valencia,
I’m learning that. You would think I should know that already since I regularly take breaks from my business; however, I think part of the problem is that freelance writing is my new baby. I love writing getting paid for something I love well that’s even better!
Thanks for stopping by. I really like your website. It is very informative.
