Freelance Writing: My article was a featured story; Just be yourself

Cooking-Academy.jpgThis morning I checked the new website where I write and was pleased to see that an article I wrote about was a featured story, which means it appears on all three websites.

The article I wrote as you can see was a review for a casual game that made its way to the Mac. Although I consider myself, a hard core gamer (first person shooter all the way baby) I truly enjoyed trying out the game. The game is called Cooking Academy and it’s available for the Mac and Windows operating systems.

Writing for news websites, especially technology websites, has become easier simply because I stopped wondering what type of voice I should use and I did what comes naturally for me. It comes naturally for me because I’m very knowledgeable about the topic. I’m sure many of us have heard the expression “just be yourself”? Well that is exactly what I did. In “being myself” I stopped worrying about the excess fluff that I really didn’t need anyway and I wrote what came naturally.

It’s important to remember what comes naturally for some won’t necessarily be natural for others, no your strengths, and work on improving your weaknesses.

Am I Nuts? Another freelance writing opportunity

Earlier this morning I was scouring the net for yet another blogging job related to Mac technology and I discovered a gem. I’ve been reading this website even before I made the switch to Mac. It’s a Mac only website.

A few weeks ago they posted an entry that they were looking for additional writers, and somehow, I overlooked them. I’ve watched this website grow from a small blog when they couldn’t pay their writers to a website that gets over 500,000 readers monthly and it continues to grow. The writers are knowledgeable about Macs, and their readers regularly comment on the post written.

A blog writer’s dream, or at least this blog writer’s dream, getting feedback for what I’ve written. I cannot complain the new website where I’m writing for has a chatty bunch. Naturally, I respond to the comments that are left on my posts. It’s just the polite thing to do you know. Everyone wants to be heard, and I want my readers to know that I am listening.
