Freelance Writing: Working with editors
Two of my blogging jobs have a full-time editor on board. Incidentally, those are the last two bogging jobs I’ve received. In reach case both, editors have written books on technology one has written a play. That same man was an English Major. Do you know how much I love having them on board? It’s nice to have a second pair of eyes to review what I’ve written I do my best to catch things but at times something slips though the cracks.
It’s funny how you catch your mistakes after you hit “Publish” right? The past two days I caught mistakes like that. Now they weren’t grammatical errors which would make it difficult unless you really are knowledgeable about technology so after my work was published I noticed my error, Whoops! I went back and updated. The thing is since we have an editor on board the published post goes back into the review pile. *Sighs* Oh well, I made my edits and resubmitted my article.
This morning when I was writing an article about Mac OS X 10.5 (aka Leopard) the latest and greatest OS X to rain down from “Apple heaven”. I noticed and error (well ok it wasn’t an error) however, I saw a way I could expand more on the topic and although it could have passed without anyone saying anything I edited my post. The thing is the editor had already read it and scheduled it to be published. I guess I’m veery anal when it comes to things I’m passionate about. I couldn’t let it go. I went back and updated my post. Thankfully the editor was online and reapproved my post. It went out on schedule thirty minutes later.
I’ve written five articles today and for now I’m going to take a break that is until later I have three more technical pieces I want to knock out this evening. Although they aren’t scheduled, I still want to get them completed.
Loyalty
I’ve been writing a lot of pieces for my new blogging job. The pay is a lot more than the first technical blogging job but you know what? I’m still with that website. I like the writing their and am planning to stay for a while. However for my heavy posting my attention is focused squarely on the newer blog. More money, better incentives, and a much larger reach.

I’m working with a super nice editor right now. I love it when that happens!
So glad you’re enjoying your work, Opal! It’s always best that way.

I’m always editing mistakes, or something that could be worded differently. Good luck on your new blogging job.
This is a test…. I’m trying to see if a comment from me will finally go through….
Mr. Akismet, I’m mad at you!
