Freelance writing: Reading, article writing, blog writing, and posting
It’s been a week since I started my last freelance writing position, and I must say that I’m enjoying it immensely. It’s great getting back into technical writing and true to form I’m hitting the ground running. I’ve set up a few interviews with software developers I’ll be giving the interviews and will be publishing them over the next few months.
The good news is a few games will be sent to me by a few developers. They are full copies and they will be sent to me via regular mail; of course, they are NFR (Not For Retail) dvd’s. To say I use a lot of software applications on my MacBook Pro would be an understatement.
Over the past few years I’ve met a lot of great indy developers. I met them by emailing them and thanking them for creating such a great product. How many of us take the time to thank a person when they do something correctly? There are some people who will only contact a company if they are doing something wrong. We all like to know that what we are doing is appreciated.
I’m always happy to promote them by writing reviews of the products I’ve purchased from them. My parents have always taught me the importance of telling people thanks, regardless of their position people should be appreciated. I always follow up with the software developer by ending them a thank you note for creating a fabulous piece of software.
A few of the developers have let me test out their new releases simply because I made that connection. It’s not why I did it. I always try to tell people thanks for providing me with a service regardless of their position.

…games? You are so cool!
Yay for thanking people. It seems as though consumers have a tendency focus on the negative. We need more people out there spreading the positivity
Good for you, Opal! Boy, you’re bookin’!
Smiles,
Michele
RLD,
I love games I play some computer games but I’m mainly a console gamer. I used to be a hardcore gamer before my daughter came along. Now I play games on my xBox 360 after she is asleep. I recently purchased Bioschock. I’m having a lot of fun with that game.
Michele,
I’m learning a lot and enjoying it immensely.
I like to keep moving.
Bioshock?! Man, your daughter is lucky to have such a cool mom
I want Bioshock so badly, but the problems are: a) no xbox 360 and b) poor college kid. My PC is also as old as dirt…
In any case, rock on!
