Freelance Writing: My debut at BLORGE.com
In a prior post I think I mentioned that I would send a link when I was up and running at the technology website. I write for BLORGE and can be found at Mac.BLORGE.com be sure to check out my first post, Ripping apart the MacBook Air.
I wasn’t planning on writing until next week however that was an easy post dealing with a topic I love so it didn’t take me too long. Well I take that back the article didn’t take a long time but the title did. I still need to work on my delivery.
This coming week I’ll link to websites I write for. I believe I’ll be creating an additional page for that.

Oo, I like your article
The MacBook Air seems awesome (they have solid state drives in some, right? That’s awesome!!). The only problem I have with it is the need for external burners and what-not, but I think that I’d get over it <3
You are so cool
When you said you were “ripping apart” the MacBook Air, I thought you were going to point out all of the bad things about it. But I’m pleased to see that you discussed the literal “ripping apart” of the machine. Interesting stuff!
What an excellent read, Opal! Your article flowed smoothly, was interesting, and held my attention till the last word!
Hurray for you - I’m so proud!
Great article Opal - the title was brilliant too. How many articles per week will you be writing for them, or does it vary?
RLD,
The MacBook Air is impressive. I think what most people aren’t getting is that this isn’t geared for everyone. Many of the reviews I’ve seen written keep whining that it isn’t like their MacBook or MacBook Pro. Well guess what? It wasn’t meant to replace that. It’s for those who are on the go.
When I travel, I rarely use the same features as I used to at home. I remember people made a big stink when they removed the disc from the computer. It’s a great opportunity writing at BLORGE, and it gives me a chance to write about what I love, Macs. I really like the computer I just wish the screen was larger than 13″.
Chad,
I had to think about that title for a while. I choose “ripping apart” because quite a few people have ripped it apart when they speak about it. Hopefully I’ll have a chance to check it out myself later this week.
Michele,
The majority of the edits were related to the title.
Thanks, I did several edits before I said. This’ll do.
Catherine,
by Roy Peter Clark really helped me immensely. He wrote about the importance of using strong verbs. Thus, far it’s the best book I’ve read on enhancing your writing. I’ll be writing for BLORGE at least 20 times per month.
Thanks, the book Writing Tools
Opal,
Great job with a title that will draw the readers in. Like Chad, I thought you were going to be posting something critical. As a former Mac Addict that was forced to conform to the PC world due to business requirements, I always watch what is going on with Apple, longing for when I can afford to return to the Mac community.
Nice article. I looks like your settling right in to your new gig.
Jim,
Definitely not! There are too many that slam Mac already. I’ve found that many don’t know what they are talking about. I’m knowledgeable about both having done more than the “average user” on both operating systems. Apple has other computer companies beat when it integrating hardware and software. There is an advantage to making both in one place. You don’t have as many problems getting things to work. The number of people buying Macs is increasing. In my second article for the website I wrote about that. The largest increase has been seen among homeowners. They simply want something that works. Mac delivers. I think they need to work more on their customer service. Although I’ve never had problem the few times I’ve called. I think at times they need to talk more about the updates and why they are needed.
Thanks so much for recommending that book it’s by the best book I’ve read on writing well. Thus, far I’ve twenty books that talk about some form of writing.
