Freelance Writing: December 2007 Earnings
I’ve been freelance writing for about three weeks and thus far I’ve done ok monetarily. I decided to create the website Addicted to Writing strictly for freelance writing. Guess what? This website is exactly one week old today. In that time I’ve actually made a few sales via Amazon.
What Has Addicted to Writing Done?
In three weeks, I picked up seven clients on my own. I received the majority through my main website, vegan momma. The beauty of it is that four clients are steady work.
- Individual Projects (7): $2011
- Amazon Associate: $5.65
- Google Adsense: $0
I was surprised that I received a sale from Amazon. I haven’t added Amazon search to my sidebar yet. The person clicked on the link in Writing a Query Letter That Sucks. My page views are low. I’m averaging about 11 visits per day, but in time I do believe it will increase. I haven’t promoted it on vegan momma. I haven’t had a chance to market this website as I would like, but in time I will. Hopefully within a few months Adsense will start to bring in money just like my other websites.

Unbelievable! You really have a talent for this. I’m learning something new from you every day it seems.
I’m trying to land a BIG web gig here in town for evening work, but if that falls through, I’ve already got some other avenues to investigate. Writing gigs, to be specific.
pete,
I hope you receive it. I know you would be happy.
It made sense to do what I enjoy, write. It’s even better that I’m getting paid for it. There are many ways a person can make money online at times you do have to be creative, but there is plenty of online work available.
Amazing earnings,
But i don’t understant… Adsense… $0 earnings????
fabio santos,
Adsense has only been up here for about four days. I decided to include that since I want to track my total income regardless if I make money or not.
I still am not sure where I want to place it although I think it will be similar to some of my other websites. Once my traffic increases adsense might also if not I’ll pull the adsense blocks.
Thanks for stopping by!
Congrats on your earnings! My first year of freelancing was 2002 - I made $60. You’re doing VERY well!
Katherine,
Thanks! I marketed the heck out of it thanks to my main website and my business. That is where I received my jobs. I haven’t hit the regular market hard, at least not yet. However, I plan to do so later this month. I ordered Writers Market so that should help also I will be following up with local newspapers, and a few local businesses within the area.
This is some impressive earnings. I’m also a freelance writer and my earnings have been steadily rising toward that figure. I guess another month or two and I’m there.
It sure as hell feels great to see the growth in a business and you are doing very well.
As for your adsense, just be careful not to get lowpriced.
Monika
Monika,
Thanks it’s a great feeling. I decided to nix adsense on this website. I have them on other websites, and they do well. I’m using affiliates on here, and eventually I’ll promote some of my ebooks. Although they won’t necessarily be related to improving your writing I do believe people can benefit from them.
Hi Opal,
That was probably a good move (with the adsense) as smart pricing will pull all your other income down on all the blogs that run adsense.
Your right on target.
Monika,
I know I’m not too fond of smart pricing. At the moment, I’m making about $100 weekly. Soon I’ll be removing adsense from a few of my websites that have them. Those websites will focus exclusively on affiliate marketing and direct sales. At the moment I average a sale per day via affiliate marketing.
I’m in the same boat as you. I just recently got into writing because I am getting a need for speed. Know what I mean? All this time, I could not figure out what made a person successful in business, now I know. Creative writing. For those who are iffy, it helps to make money from writing to know what I am talking about.
